Founded in January 2013, Women Steering Business is a group of civic-minded business leaders who are dedicated to developing future female business leaders. We do this by funding livestock sales from young women who use the proceeds to advance their own education and vocational opportunities.
What is WSB?
Women Steering Business, entering its 'Million Dollar Year' for the 2017-2018 season, is a group of civic-minded business leaders dedicated to developing future female business leaders. We do this by funding livestock sales from young women who use the proceeds to advance their own education and vocational opportunities.
Women Steering Business is the second largest sponsor of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo and the Junior Sale of Champions. In our first five years, our members' support has resulted in the purchase of the Reserve Grand Champion Steer (2015) for $150,000, the Reserve Grand Champion Steer (2016) for $170,000, and the Grand Champion Steer (2017) for $240,000 which tied the record. To date, we have supported 21 young ladies with an average purchase price of $17,488.
This year, the Million Dollar Drive will help Women Steering Business further advance our mission and achieve even more. Our goal is to invest in as many hardworking girls as possible during the 2018 Jr. Sale of Champions. The generous contributions of our community are critical to being able to diversify our purchases and empower many of these deserving young women.
OUR MEMBERS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
Participation in the group requires a minimum of $500 per year and a commitment to support our mission. Our range of membership levels allow women of all economic brackets to participate.
Payments for events held throughout the year are to cover out-of-pocket costs only and are generally not additional fundraising activities. Therefore, your payments to attend events are not tax deductible, but your membership contribution is.
